Christmas Dinner

The time has come to strut your stuff, show your skills in the kitchen and entertain your guests with a warm welcoming smile. However, none of that is easy to do, no matter how experienced you are, so we put together a few tips to help you impress without stress… and enjoy the big day in all its glory!

Settle on your menu early on

Even if you have organised countless festive parties, planning out exactly what you are going to serve well before Christmas, will help you focus and spend the right time and energy when shopping for everything you need, without falling into the trap of last-minute chaos and endless queues.

Prepare your kitchen (and all other prep areas) for chef-level cooking!

Once you know what needs to be cooked, it is time to look around your prep area and make sure it is ready to take on the challenge. Do you have all the cookware you need? Do you have the right baking tray for the turkey? A quality ceramic casserole or roaster for slow-cooked lamb or beef? How about ovenproof glass bakeware trays, dishes, bowls and roasters? Have you decided to grill up a storm, and if so, is your barbeque up to par and fully equipped with everything it needs to step up to the demands of the day?

Team up with the pros

Getting things done right, means lining up the right team. No matter how talented you are, you will do more, better and faster when you kitchen is equipped with professional-grade (yet affordable) cooking appliances. Do yourself a favour and get that halogen oven you have been thinking about, a rice cooker, fryer, tiered steamer or electric grill. Just remember, these appliances are your cooks, your brigade, and you… are their executive chef. If you really want to step up your game though, don’t be afraid to invest in a great pressure cooker and make things a little more fun with small appliances you’ll enjoy all year long, like a popcorn machine, a waffle make, a fondue set or even a yummy chocolate fountain.

Presentation is everything

Pay attention to how your food will look on the table. Plating and presentation is a whole other ball game when it comes to hosting and is also a good chance to showcase your creativity. Check and count your dishes and sets. You will need matching tableware and elegant cutlery  as well as all kinds of glassware
Make sure you also decorate the table as well, with Christmas plantsfestive tablecloths and chair covers.
